Mermaid with Swirls on Black Background

This little lady of the sea is tinier than others I've painted - there is more of her to see and more hair etc filling up the 2.5"x 3.5" space.

She took forever. 'Nuff said.

I do love how she turned out though.

You can find her on auction over here: http://tinyurl.com/2at4yq

I love the dark colors on this piece, but, your faces, as always are so exquisite! Beautiful! I always say that, but, it is always true!

Oh, wow!!

It's funny, I saw a painting tonight on a notecard that had a black background and I've started planning in my head a painting with a black background (cats or koi, haven't decided, or maybe both).

So cool to see you doing it here with your inimitable style! It's just gorgeous!

Hahahaha, Ivan, I have a confession. My inspriation is not as noble... remember those posters that were black velvet then you coloured in the picture part?

That is what inspired me on this one. *giggle*

I can't wait to see your black background painting!!! Its totally fun.

Ha!! That is too funny--but hey, artists get their inspiration from everywhere, right? :)

Take care,
